Sounds like Thigpen's following the proper backup's course of action, though, the old, "I have to be ready to play and do my part," blah blah blah. Of course he'd rather start--who wouldn't--but he knows how it works. He's being replaced by a former backup, who got his shot when he replaced an injured starter, who himself was a former backup who got his shot when he replaced an injured starter... It's the NFL Circle of Life.

And, as said, everyone loves the backup. If Thigpen has to come in and looks great for a game or two, it'll translate into a Billy Volek-style contract down the road. And in this economy, he's probably well aware that being paid to hold a clipboard certainly beats bagging groceries like Kurt Warner.
