Enh, you can't worry about that... Denver was going to struggle winning 8 games had they just maintained the status quo from 2008 and not fired Shanahan.
And, if Smith proves he can play... he's worth the price they paid to get him.
Some fans should realize that it's not the end of the world if your team has a shitty record, as long as they've got their eye on the prize and are rebuilding. Now, there are fans of teams that should worry after a few years of the same old crappy performances...
If Denver has a horrible 2009, big deal... I trust they have their eye on the prize and they're reshaping the team.
