The explanation for Frank Lombard's neighbors' behavior is that Eno Commons was founded by a prominent lesbian activist, and is advertised as a community which is "Open to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender members" with "No Restrictions on Romantic Relationships (between consenting adults)."
Or, rather, I should say "was advertised." Past tense. They've just sanitized their web page at ic.org, to remove that.

Can you imagine raising children in a place that ADVERTISES sexual promiscuity? What kind of place is that for children?
That's why Frank Lombard's Eno Commons neighbors are circling the wagons, and refusing to talk about his crime. They are not so much shocked as defensive. They are less horrified by the crime than by the bad publicity.
