I hadn't heard the ranked vs social distinction, only that it would likely only affect certain modes. I'm really hoping it's just for things like S&D, and not TDM, where ghosting really isn't a problem. I'm going to be really annoyed if it affects TDM, as that will definitely affect my enjoyment of the game. I have a group of people I play with regularly, and I MUCH prefer to just chat with those folks, rather than all the 12 year old kids on XBL cussing, talking trash, etc. We don't use it for ghosting - just chatting.
The party chat system is one of the best things about XBL. I really don't like the precedent this would set. They should just create specific "no party chat" playlists for those who want to play that way...
I'm already concerned about how this MP in this game is going to turn out, and this is just one more thing that makes me wonder...
