Right on the River in downtown...lots of bars, live music, BBQ(not as good as KC, but it smells great walking around). The whole Nashville area is full of live entertainment, so check with your hotel or whomever you are staying with. You can also catch a Preds NHL game. The arena is downtown so you can eat/drink before and after the game.
I have always found plenty to do on my business trips to Nashville.
If you and the wife want to go for a great dinner that isn't cheap, but worth it go to The Palm. It is a steakhouse originally from NY, and there are only 3 or 4 in the US. A good time and a great meal.
