It had to end. Mangino's fate was written weeks and weeks ago.
His comments that he may have lost some people at KU but not the players is pretty clear. Perkins had been conspiring against him for a long time, and Mangino knew it. I wouldn't be surprised if he cut a backroom deal at midseason with whomever his appointee will be.
Perhaps he will hold back on a decision for a while, if he wishes to get more funds in the meantime, to supposedly attract the best candidate.
I'm wondering who would work for someone who would cut the legs off their coach like that, whatever Mangino's failings may have been.
