News: The Mets have been trying to put a package together that would get them Gil Meche from Kansas City, according to the New York Post.
Impact: Meche seems like he'd be a decent buy-low candidate after an injury-riddled season last year where he also struggled when healthy. He'd been pretty darn solid the previous two seasons in Kansas City and still should have at least a few seasons left in the tank at 31 years of age, so we'll see if the Mets can put enough on the table to entice the Royals.
News: Arguelles, a 19-year-old left-hander who last year defected from Cuba, agreed to a five-year, $7 million major league deal with the Royals on Saturday, Yahoo Sports reports.
Impact: The contract is contingent upon Arguelles passing a physical. The Royals still must clear a spot on their 40-man roster. Arguelles is a 6-3 lefty with a mid-90s fastball, an above average curve and a changeup that can function as an out pitch. He likely will start out in Single-A, but could move up rapidly.
