Seems like a generational thing to me.

I'd say most thirty-somethings and older believe that "I'll bet you...." means it's a real ****ing bet, because a man's word means something to us.

If a man says, "I'll bet you" followed by anything, it's a bet. And bets are honored.

Not all, but a large part of your generation could give two shits.
