He had four great years (1997-2000). His rep was bigger than his actual place in baseball. If he wasn't a (supposedly) handsome white dude with a cool name, I doubt he becomes the celebrity he was. JMO, but I don't think I'm alone on it. I bet most Red Sox fans will only vaguely raise their heads from the midwinter Grapefruit League stupor enough even to acknowledge this move, with a halfhearted, "Huh, that's nice of the Sox, I guess." There will probably be no parades.
Also not fond of how he left. Also hear he was a crappy clubhouse guy. And they never won with him, so he's sort of the baseball equivalent of Ladainlian, LOL.
