Another thing that really annoys me is how they react to his Spring performance.
I understand that Trey is probably stuck with Farnsworth and has to project some sort of nice "company line". Fine, but there's a lot of ways to do that. First you have to acknowledge that Farnsworth is not having a great spring. Throw in the word "challenging", talk about how he's working on perfecting a new pitch rather than acting like this is a regular season game. From there, pivot to the season and use words like "we are optimistic that", and throw the words "we hope" 2 or 3 times. Then bring the answer to the question to a merciful end (you obviously do not volunteer to discuss Farnsworth, this has to be an answer to a question), and change the subject to how swell Greinke is doing.
There's a ton of ways to answer the Farnsworth question in a positive way without looking like a moron. Talking about how pleased you are with Farnsworth and that he'll be pitching no matter what (without some sort of caveat, like he's practicing a new pitch without worrying about the record) makes you look clueless.
