IMO hitting or pushing away a female in order to defend yourself is acceptable. As long as you don't go apeshit and she ends up in the hospital.
Either way, that chick sounds like a psycho and should have been given a lovetap. Of course, w/ her being 'skilled' in fighting, your buddy probably did the right thing, thus avoiding a total ass-whooping by a chick.
