If McCluster had gone to freaking BAMA I'd have still been SUPER excited about getting a guy that set freaking offensive records in the damn SEC. I'd have probably been preferring someone else at that pick, but I'm not going to cry and pull my hair out over a guy that made SEC defenses look like ****ing dummies.
Here's a good comparison. Following the 2006 season when the Saints lost to the Bears in the NFC Champ Game, it was apparent to everyone that our defense was ass. Especially our pass defense. It was worst in the league I believe. So we all knew that it was holding us back. What was our first pick the next season? A Wide Receiver.
At the time we were pretty pissed about it, but at least I was able to console myself and go "OK, this guy led the SEC in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. So it's not like he sucks." And it took him a while, but Robert Meachem is a bona fide stud now and is getting better and better.
