The ending was a bit sappy and heavy handed, though. But that's pretty much my only detracting thing to say, along with a sloppily edited scene in the rain with the lawyers. My girlfriend and I afterward talked about whether Jack Nicholson's character could be given any sympathy. I was definitely a 'no,' but there were some alright points to be made for the other side. It just cemented in my mind that the best way to watch any movie is with talking about it after (or reading works or reviews about it alone -- whatever works).

One of the few Cruise movies I like.
