I hadn't heard that casting note either. Weird, I'm usually up on that stuff.
I would, however, be surprised if Natalie Portman didn't get the lead. She wants to do it, she's got the build, and she's shown she can do darker/challenging roles (V for Vendetta). Of course, they could go "unknown". Personally, I didn't quite like the Swedish cast of Lisbeth but it was acceptable.

I'm in LA. It's been out about a month here. Hornet's Nest opens Oct. 15th.
I loooove the Swedish Lisbeth. Physically, she was exactly how I had pictured her while reading. The small but strong, scrappy body, I really believe could win a dirty fight if backed into a corner, is something I never quite buy from most American heroines, even the ones in darker stories.
It would be quite a transformation for Natalie Portman to pull off, as she is such a girly girl, but I like some of her work, and am willing to give her a chance if they do cast her. I totally buy Pride and Prejudice and Zombies casting her, as she definitely has ass-kicking Elizabeth Bennett in her.
