Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo, Missing Persons, The Knack, Elvis Costello, Madness, UB40, The Police and especially, early U2.
Although a lot of these "new wave" bands rip off Muse.
I personally can't stand the Freddie Mercury/Opera-style singing but the music is great.
