That's a very tough one.
TA (or gameball as KU fans call him) had a problem with recruiting division 1 talent. He wasn't a great coach but he wasn't the worst at coaching if memory serves. Just couldn't get talent.
From what I hear about TG's team on Saturday (I didn't watch the game as I was out of town), they were undisciplined, soft, and played like they didn't care. That is much worse if true.

Nice coaches don't really work at the NFL level and you're dealing with professionals. In college, nice coaches are nothing short of a disaster. College kids need discipline and motivation. Not only could Mangino identify diamonds in the rough, he was also able to cut them (so to speak) with discipline and tough love into the players we saw on the field.
I hope TG is learning this and can hopefully change his way even a little.
