don't give him a new contract the 1st year
draft a QB/acquire another QB/have a backup plan
actually even giving the big contract is not a monumental mistake AS LONG as they draft a QB next year and cut bait with Cassel(assuming he continues to suck).
next year Cassel is gone for Jake Locker(or whomever)
next year Vrabel is gone for Studebaker
if so then it was a decent enough return for a 2nd rounder all things considered.

If we get rid of Cassel and Vrabel next year, it meant we just got 2 years out of a very high second round pick. Thats shitty. We basically had another first round pick and we wasted it on ****ing worthless piece of shit Matt Cassel.
