If I was the gay kid, instead of committing suicide, I would have bought a shotgun and imprisoned the roommate and scared the shit out of him / made him shit his pants. He couldn't do anything afterward except move out because he'd get in trouble if anyone found out what he did.
Or he would kill you and it would end in the same way.
