Man on Wire
Recent documentary that was awarded Best Doc. feature by the Academy a year or two ago, I'm not sure I can go so far as to give it that kind of praise. The subject, a risky acrobatic stunt across the WTC towers, is treated all very too seriously. One might think it's actually a movie about terrorists bombing the towers. When one accomplice breaks down at the memory not once, but twice, you get the feeling that either 1) this man was madly in love with the walker or 2) has an awkwardly distorted perspective on life. The day-of scenes and 'flashbacks' and re-creations mesh well enough to hold interest, and the use of classical music, especially at the climax of film, the walk, with Satie, is great.
