If he hadn't died, or if he had a son or daughter who shared his enthusiasm, the Royals would be pretty much where the St. Louis Cardinals have been for the last 20 years. There obviously are 2 different philosophies in ownership styles.
Glass wants to make profit and winning comes 2nd or possibly 3rd.
Kauffman wanted to make sure talent was in KC and the team was competitive.
In baseball you have to pay to play. There needs to be a cap, but that will never happen though.
