I've been on both sides of the fence quite a bit. I know many farmers who will give me boxes of shells to come out and shoot deer despite the current state regulation. I've went out on fields with at least 100 deer at a time all destroying sprouting wheat. In some places, they are really a serious hindrance to growing crops. Not to mention people hitting deer on the roads. But at the same time, you have to have respect for the species, and do what's in the best interest for the future of the species. I greatly rely on deer meat for a large portion of my yearly meat consumption. Especially now that meat prices have gone up so much.
Bottom line... it's not that difficult to maintain respect for the biological continuation of the species while still enjoying the benefits of tasty lean venison meat...
