Don't think there's any way KSU could afford to do it, but severing ties with Frank right now would be the best for both parties involved. Frank would be well-served to bolt, with the recruiting cupboard essentially bare, and with all the departures, that will only get worse.
Added to that, since he's curiously shelved his faux tough-guy act, it's obvious he's lost as a coach in more ways than one. KSU's rep is (was) at maybe an all-time high, and they could potentially capitalize on what's left of that now and attract a decent coach, and not let Frank take down what's left of it over the next year or two.
