FTR, that was in the Atlantic and in nearly 18 years on the west coast, I've yet to see a jellyfish in the Pacific, nor hear of someone being stung. Of course, that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen, it's just I'm unaware of it happening regularly.

When I was in northern Australia back in the 90s they had warnings up all over the place about box jellyfish, and had pictures in the hotel of people who'd been stung, just to drive home the point. They had more warnings about them than about the 20-foot crocodiles.
