Iraq wanted to eliminate the "oil middle man" and the Bush presidency went to war to stop that.
Clinton pulled out (haha, in more ways/times than one) and when Bush Jr. got into office, he stuck it back in...in the name of Bin Laden/WMD/the poor Iraqui people.
The ironic part of all that is we were a huge part of putting Hussein in power in that region in the first place and there are reports that we gave him the initial recipies to create the very weapons we were trying to take away.
If those events never occurred, can you speculate as to the current price of oil?

If Iraq hadn't invaded Kuwait, we wouldn't have had any need to remove them from Kuwait.
