You are flailing around a little. I said that I don't presume to know what goes on inside their heads (that they knew that they'd be mocked).
The story was released because these people chose to seek attention. They could have just as easily holed up in a bunker to wait for the rapture. They didn't.
Do you actually have a point to make? If so, what is it?
