1) NFL owners approved a tentative 10-year CBA, contingent on the players reforming a union and approving it by Tuesday. Vote was 31-0, with Oakland abstaining.
2) The NFL had a press conference basically talking like it was a done deal, the rest are formalities, everything's been agreed to, the players are ready to approve it and start playing, here's the game we'll have to cancel, but we're ready to go.
3) NFLPA execs basically said hey wait, time out. We agreed to almost every major issue and we only had a few minor things to iron out, but those minor things haven't been agreed to. You ignored our last counter.
4) Surprise and anger from the NFL owners. (fake surprise or real, your guess) Claims that no, we agreed to everything, what are you talking about.
5) NFLPA leaders basically said ok fine, as soon as you send us your CBA, we'll look at it and talk it over. Maybe we'll agree, maybe we wont. No promises. We cant do anything yet though, because you haven't sent us anything yet.
6) NFL owners: uhh, yeah we did. We gave you the CBA we passed.
7) NFLPA uhh, no you didn't. Give it to us now, we'll start internally debating whether to accept your offer tomorrow.
8) NFL: OK fine, but do it by Tuesday.
