I'd have mixed feelings about this move.
#1. He is old. And would probably only play 20-25 snaps a game max.
#2. He has to go through the transition of playing from a 4-3 DT to 3-4 NT. Big difference there. Not exactly sure if he would provide good mentorship for the young guys? And Im only saying that because he would have to learn and adjust to a new position/scheme and doesn't necessarily have the experience of a 3-4 NT. So how is it possible to teach them?
*But, on the other hand, we'd be getting a good veteran and proven run stuffer that can be very useful in 3rd and 1/short yardage situations. I'd be in favor of this move only if the Chiefs were running a hybrid type defense. So Im leaning more towards a "no"...But he would be good to have because he could give Crennel more options on defense. I'd rather develop a young guy or sign Franklin instead. Besides, stopping the run wasn't a team weakness anyway? So passing on Pat Williams is no biggie.
