It really is.
For some of the guys that post here, its clearly making them not enjoy the transition this team is making from a terrible team in need of a total, complete rebuild into a team that will be able to consistently be a contender.
Let me be very clear.
I think we can play in the AFC title game THIS YEAR -IF- (and its a huge if) Matt Cassel can get to the level Trent Green was at in 2005...or if he can get to the level Richh Gannon was at when he was with the Raiders.
Maybe Im just a homer, but thats the way I see it.
AFC TITLE GAME
You heard it here first.

Waiting 17 years and counting for a playoff win, 41 years and counting for a superbowl appearence can do that to fans.
Would love it if Cassel made that huge jump to Trent Green status too, or Lenny Dawson for that matter, but unless he had a lobotomy that Pioli is keeping secret, there is no way. His record is all we have to go on. Against playoff calibor teams and the crappy season of division rivals, his record underwelmed. With the short season and question marks still at key areas/positions of concern/weaknesses for last 3 seasons it is really hard to be optimisic those short comings magically get fixed. Especially if we have to wait till next draft to do it.
I hope you are right, and I think this will probably be a make or break year for Cassel too. With the defenses we will face this year we can't afford 20 yard sacks or QB ratings below 50. That just won't cut it.
