A perfect storm of an ill-prepared and listless team, missing some players, going on the road to an up-and-coming team that played it like it was the Super Bowl. A lot of Patriots mailed in some of their suckiest showings to date (the OL, specifically Vollmer and rookie Solder, and the DBs, specifically Devin McCourty and Kyle Arrington). They're just lucky this was a mulligan game and didn't actually count in the L column.
While I won't brush it off as simply preseason, since it does indicate they need to work on a lot of things, I have to remember that the Lions recently went 4-0 in the preseason and sucked, and the Colts routinely lose in the preseason, and in '04 the Bengals kicked the Pats' asses in the preseason, etc.,.
Also, I take solace by thinking (and hoping) that the Lions actually have a very good team this year.
