I love how you ascribe some sort of nobility to foolishly spending money on a shitty team in an attempt to make it better. The Chiefs and the Raiders are both shitty. Who cares what the payroll is? If you spend $75,000 on a Mercedes that doesn't run, and I spend $14,000 on a Nissan that doesn't run, neither of us is getting where we're going.
The difference is (if I may further strain the metaphor), when I need to replace a part (resign a player) or finally get the engine fixed (draft a 1st round QB) I'll have the budget to do it. You'll be sittin pretty in a worthless car you can't afford.
