Orton is average. Nothing special. So average that he's been run out of TWO towns (Denver and Chicago) where they did NOT have Peyton Manning replacing him. He will bring the Chiefs absolutely nothing. If he plays average enough and the Chiefs somehow pull out a win against Green Bay, all it will do is solidify the false illusion that he's the QBOTF for the Chiefs and put their development back even longer. (And, frankly, I'm not sold as Crennel as a HC, so if beating GB makes him the HCOTF that could be equally bad.)
The Chiefs could have the next Tom Brady sitting on the bench. Or the next Curtis Painter. But they'll never know if he keeps sitting on the ****ing bench.

Crennel is not trying to put himself in front of the team by trying to win some games. God people are stupid. The players might want Crennel to be the next coach. The best way to keep Romeo around is to win the final three games. Beating Green Bay would be KC's Super Bowl. With Romeo as coach the players probably feel a bit safer with regard to their future. The players want to win these final three games and not have it be all about throwing a rookie into the fire when that rookie hasn't had the benefit of taking 1st team snaps until this past Wednesday. Blame Haley for not getting the kid up to speed the last 7 months, not Crennel for not doing it in 3 days.
