Instead he did it in a backwards order, let it drag on and lost his leverage. Now the best decision he can make is to give him the market value so he can at least maintain leverage as it relates to Bowe.
Getting Carr signed makes the franchise tag on Bowe a done deal. So lets at least try to salvage something here by giving Carr what he's going to get anyway, giving it to him now and getting some negotiating leverage back with Bowe.
Pioli really did screw the pooch here.

I tend to agree.
In Bowe's case...you have Baldwin behind him who could very well replace what he gives you if he doesn't stick around.
We have nothing behind Carr.
Seems to me that signing Carr should've been the priority.
