I don't think it's mental. I base that on the fact that I was determined to prove to myself the more expensive balls were no better for a player at my level. But after three rounds with an obviously improved short game I am realizing there is a value.

The problem for me is that I don't mind too much hitting a $1 ball into the desert scrub but losing a $2.50 ball is going to piss me off.

Does anyone here have any experience with purchasing recycled lost golf balls? The best condition balls aren't cheap but they do offer a bit of a savings over new.
