I'm a little disappointed. I did not think he would sign a 1-year deal, I thought he was going to get a 3 or 4-year deal from someone at around 12MM AAV or so.
Obviously he and Boras weren't happy with the 3 year deals they were getting, so they signed this 1-year "show me" contract to hopefully get a payday in 2013, but they could have done their audition in KC, its not like the Nats are a great team. Perhaps we inquired and were flat-out told no way, but it would be nice to know if that happened.
If the rotation looks crowded now, we did not have to re-sign Chen, and Duffy has options.
