I'm sorry, I have to laugh at this. The dudes shoulders are not only pretty well capped, but it's all lean muscle as evidenced by the striations you can see where he is holding the phone forward.
As far as the weighted ab work, he may well not even do that much. The guy is sitting at a ridiculous low bodyfat, like 5-6% in that picture. Core strength is invaluable for football anyway.
He obviously is on HGH and some other goodies, but that is what a guy should be doing.
