It's totally a lifestyle change (getting to a healthy weight) which is why I've so far avoided anything that's really "dieting". Because I always think of "dieting" as being a temporary fix to a permanent problem. So going low carb or doing severe caloric restriction doesn't really appeal to me because it's not really something I can see myself doing for the long term. The closest thing to what I want to do for the rest of my life is probably paleo, but that's only in the sense that I want to (permanently) restrict how much processed food I eat, and try to get to a point where I'm almost exclusively cooking for myself. Sugar and wheat in moderation, a lot of lean fish and fowl, a lot of vegetables and fruit. Of course it's a challenge even to do that much, after being conditioned for so many decades to eat all of the stuff that I enjoy the most.
