I'm what you call a plodder. These days I can handle about 3 miles (which is really good for me in March, this is usually my "get back in shape" time of year), but I run really, really slowly. I'm not sure I can even hit a 12-minute mile at this point.
Even when I was 20 years younger and 50 pounds lighter, I was never fleet of foot. Back in my cross country and road racing days, I was lucky to do much below 8 minutes/mile, and I don't think I ever finished a 10k under 50 minutes.
