Well, he looked black enough that everything thought he was black. Didn't fit in with blacks because he hated them. Didn't fit in with whites because he was so ridiculously racist that the only white people he would have fit in with wouldn't associate with him because he looked black. He was undoubtedly the most miserable, self-loathing person I've ever known. The roommate thing didn't last very long.
