I doubt it would be a big issue - esp from the fan base. It's all about winning and if they do this and win, there's your cure. Especially, if FA goes as it would be expected to go.

I don't think it'd be a big issue initially, but say Peyton comes in and looks shaky for the first 3-4 games. I can't imagine the Tebow worshipers not coming out and calling for him to start again.
The other issue is that Tebow isn't compatible at all with a Manning-style offense. It'd be really tough for the team to suddenly shift to Tebow's style if Manning were to go down.
But who knows how any of this is going to work out?
