People have also found odd items on that island that appear to have possibly been items on her plane crafted into crude tools. No one knows if her navigator survived the landing, but Earhart probably died on the island, either of starvation, exposure, or maybe even suicide. We don't have definitive proof, but if they could find her plane, that would clinch it.

The shame of it is that a British survey group visited the island to see if it was militarily useful on December 1938. If she could have figured out a way to hang on for a year and a half, she would have been rescued.
