I am not saying we are better off because we have Cassel. I am saying we are better off with Cassel + the others than just Manning. If Cassel were to somehow repeat or at least come close to his 27-7 TD\INT season then I think we are much better off than had we signed Manning.

The Manning contract is basically a 5 year deal with $50m guaranteed and of that $50m only $18m is guaranteed for the first year. If Manning has any issue with his neck then he only gets $18m and the rest of the contract is essentially protected against another re-injury of his neck.
You can justify Cassel all you want and say that Manning was too expensive, but the reality is you're wrong and the fan of a team that is paying Cassel $60m and kc has forked out the lion share of this money already, with $16m coming the first year.
