I wonder how much GRRM has told the writers about where he's going with the series. There was one scene that, possibly, confirmed some of the speculation out there:

When Bran was warged into the wolf then segued to him, Hodor, and the wildling woman all walking to the weirwood pool. They made a very big deal of him being without legs and dragging himself to the pool. As they talked about the comet, the wildling woman (damn, I can never remember her name) said that the comet symbolizes dragons. This seemed to foreshadow, to me at least, that Bran would warg into a dragon one day.
