Giavotella's readiness this spring was likely slowed by the hip surgery he had in the off season. Being that he wasn't a plus defender anyway it could well have hampered him getting off to a good start and the team probably thought a little less pressure in AAA might be a better place for him to get his feet under him again. I would expect with a good showing at Omaha he'll be back up before too long. Yuni was a familiar and cheap signing for insurance or a back-up role so now he's needed for the insurance part.
Christian Colon isn't near ready for the Majors, he's in AA.
