When I started in radio 22 years ago 95% of the music I played was from a 45rpm record. We had one syndicated show that played in the cd player. The jocks (dj's) took pride in being able to cue up a record... lay it down, dust it off, spin it and find the first note and turn it half a turntable backwards to cue it up (half a turn back on the table gets the player to speed by the first note). We had competitions to see who could do it the fastest and most accurate. If you could do it all as the previous song started to fade and not have any dead air you were the shit and I was the shit.
