He did indeed. He put up some ridiculous stat in a preseason game like 3 or 4 sacks and demonstrated the quickest first step off the snap that Chiefs fans had seen since Derrick Thomas. That made him an instant fan favorite.

Hell, Vermeil surprised people and actually kept him around for a couple seasons. Even then, people were pissed that Truluck was only in a backup role with the team. The guy was going to be the missing piece on the Chiefs defense, propelling us to a Super Bowl after we lost to the Colts in 2003.

Then we traded his ass to the Packers. Heh.

Ugh. Rough times. That was around the same period as Rich Scanlon too, I think.
