I think a woman should be able to breastfeed if the need arises. I don't like the fact that the stock answer is to go into the bathroom and nurse. Eating in a bathroom is not the most appetizing thought.
However, I do also agree with some others here that some discretion is usually all that's needed to keep people from flipping out and getting offended.
