A bit off topic, but this part of your post reminds me of a quote attributed to Plato/Socrates

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Of course, since this sounds so contemporary, it is portrayed as folly...because the world is still here...right? Because the fall of the Greek civilization never happened.
