Re: Sanchez...

It was a gamble that was completely acceptable at the time. Both Sanchez and Cabrera were on one-year deals. Cabrera had turned down a pretty decent extension offer from the Royals already.

Both guys had upside (Sanchez 2010, Cabrera 2011) and risk (Sanchez 2011, Cabrera 2009-10) on their track records.

The Royals lost the gamble. Sanchez did NOT return to form, and Cabrera stayed true to his 2011 Royals form. It's time to cut bait on the gamble. Sanchez is NOT going to recover. And no one is going to give up anything of value for him at this point. Dump him. At least a guy like Mazzero gives you a chance to win/stay in it 1/2 the time he's out there. Sanchez digs you into an enormous hole each time out.

The complete stubbornness of the front office- and inability to move past mistakes - is the most concerning thing about Moore's operation, IMO. It's fine to lose a trade like this. It's not fine to compound the interest by rolling out garbage every fifth day.

I am more and more convinced that Moore is Chuck La Mar, the Schuerzholz protege who was Tampa's GM for years before Andrew Friedman righted that ship.
