If you charge at night when the demand is low and a community has room in the base load power plants output, it is basically free, gets less efficient in the load following plants, and would not be efficient in peaking plants. I am lucky in that we have a solar grid at work in the parking garage that plugins have access to if I end up getting one so I can charge for free on clean power at work during the day and rarely use my home power grid access. Everyone has to look at their own power access and community power situation to know how beneficial it is for you.
