I think there is a better way. The Iranians are the closest people to our way of life. They understand Democracy, they enjoy American TV and movies, amusement parks, roller coasters etc. Sure they are still pissed off that we supported a Dictator that tortured and imprisoned them for no reason.
But, they are potential allies. We all saw the people in the street. There is serious buyers remorse that the Mullahs are in power. We let them throw the mullahs out. We arm them, give them support in a guerilla war. See if they can throw the mullahs out without us having to put boots on the ground.
